Alan Alder Memorial Trophy Final

Division 3A Yellow Eagles comfortably overcame a disappointing Rutherford Lab, who represent division 2, the so called underdogs winning at a canter 3-0.

Man of the match Lee Rendell was a constant threat for the Yellows, scoring two & setting up the other goal. Their opponents main threat of John Hawkins & Andy Arnold were snuffed out by a resolute Yellows rearguard.

As early as the second minute Eagle Duncan Howell saw his goal bound effort blocked on the line by Dave Templeman. Arnold then went close for Rutherford but Rendell ran on to a long forward pass to brilliantly lob Lab keeper Ashley Barrett & open the scoring.

Eagle keeper Nick Brown made a fine stop from Arnold & with the game swinging from end to end, Chris White saw his effort saved by Barrett.
Just before the break, a now dominant Eagle side nearly doubled the advantage but Barrett was called into action again, saving from Mark Wilmot.

Soon after the interval Eagles deservedly made it 2-0 when Ben Crawford finished off a fine move with Rendell heavily involved.

Hawkins then went close with two free kicks from distance, the second proving that sometimes it`s just not your day as his floated kick came off the cross bar.

Crawford then returned the favour as his pass set up Rendell to insure the trophy goes to the Oxford based outfit, as he slashed home a drive to make it 3-0.

Rendell, Wilmot & sub George Dugdale all went close as Rutherford were resigned to defeat, a game played with the spirit you`d expect from sides who were marked highest for sportsmanship, in the UTV. The match was excellently marshalled by referee Alan Gifford.

The yellow & blue ribbon of the Oxford side on the cup, a good omen for tomorrow as most of the Oxford side make their way to Wembley to support the other team in yellow & blue. This game brought forward to accommodate the Blue Square Premier Playoff, Yellows, Yellows.....

Division 3A

Nick Lacey finished Bicesterlona`s season, as far as on the road is concerned, hitting seven of his sides goals in an amazing 10-5 win at Northway Boys & Girls. Richard Aston grabbed a brace, with James Davies completing the scoring against Northway`s just over the legal ammount of players, eight! Northway scored through a Daz Kianzad double, Marvin Martin, Nick Albin & Naveed Akram

Division 3B

Revenge was sweet for Abingdon Knights as they grounded JET in a 2-1 home win to avenge an earlier league defeat. Mike James & Luke French netted for the Knights with keeper Ken Bradshaw ensuring all three points with a fine penalty save. The Knights can go above their opponents, if they win their last match of the season.
