Devenney Cup Quarter Finals

Another quarter final played at a fierce pace, always around boiling point as deadly 3A rivals Masons Arms & Donnington needed penalties to be separated, Mason keeper Billy Geddes proving the hero with the winning spot kick after saving one in the final shoot out.

Donnington keeper Luke Watts made a series of saves to keep his side in it, the save from a Paul Hedger free kick at the end of extra time, truly brilliant.

Both defences dominated, Masons keeping the dangerous Lee Spencer quiet & really had most of the possession especially when Nick Andrews was dismissed for two cautions, with 20 minutes of normal time remaining.
Watts denied Bradley & Kyle Fine, during the 90 minutes & saved well at the feet of Hedger as he beat the Donnington offside trap but the game went to the final show down as Geddes proved decisive.

Geddes saved Spencer`s well placed kick then hit the winner following successful kicks from Rui De Garces, Hedger & Ben Strong.

They face a tough game in the semi`s with all three other teams from division 1.

Kings Arms Wheatley never looked in danger of slipping up on the proverbial banana skin at 3B high flyers Chalgrove & ran out 6-1 winners. Neil Lockhart hit a treble for Wheatley, Adam Simmonds, Benji Cuff & Sean Jacobs completed the score, Matty Howitt hit the consolation.

The Bay Tree moved into the semi-final having to come from behind as AFC Jericho took a shock lead as Tommy Allen smashed home from 30 yards.

Andrew Woodhouse headed home for a Bay Tree equaliser & after a half time sort out, super wing play from Ben Sutton & Tom Eatwell, opened up a stubborn Jericho defence & their brave fight was extinguished. Tome Rowe whacked two fine solo goals & Chris Hogan wrapped it up from the spot after Ollie O`Hanlon was upended in the box.

Division 1

An incredible goal fest played out at Sutton Revolution who edged an eleven goal thriller against rivals Childrey OHB. Darren Goodale hit a brace for Sutton, Tom Larman, Chris Shahab, Steve Madge & Andy Hillett all netted. The home side led 4-3 at the break & found themselves 5-4 down with just minutes to go, in fact Hillett struck the winner with the last kick of the match. Childrey`s goals came from a Tom North double & strikes from Sean Webb & Ben Taylor but ended up pointless as the Revolution double their points tally.

Oxford Yellows rehearsed for the OFA Sam Waters cup final by whacking final opponents AFC Cowley 8-1. Neil Hanlon grabbed a hat trick for Yellows, Sean Flaherty a brace with Ronnie Kebabwe, Johnny McMahon & an own goal stacking up the goals against Cowley who could only field nine players. Joe Barrett hit the consolation.

Division 2

Didcot Casuals got back to winning ways thumping Wallingford Wanderers 8-4, to severely dent their opponents championship hopes. John Hedges smashed a four timer for Casuals, Simon Pritchard, Jamie Clarke, Johnny Eudell & an own goal made up their tally, Billy Warner replied with a brace, Johnny Dix & Liam Woods also scored for Wanderers.

Kennington United eased past Woodstock Wanderers 4-1 away, Jamie & Rob Cattell, John Mills & Mark Druce all doing the damage. Matt Motnawena scored for Woodstock, whose cause wasn`t helped with a dismissal to one of their players.

Rutherford Lab were sitting pretty at the break a goal to the good scored by Andy Arnold but they were humbled in the second half with eight unanswered goals from Abba Athletic. Andy Sams was in tune with an Abba four timer & Will Goble cracked a treble. James McPhee completed Rutherford`s wow with Abba`s other goal.

Division 3A

With the top two battling it out in the cup, Mansfield Road moved into third following a fine 5-3 win at Freeland Yeoman. Dan Oyston & Fran O`Neil both scored twice with Max Burton the other Mansfield scorer. Tom Mason, John Leader & John Crocker all scored for the West Oxon sid but it wasn`t enough.

Railway Wheatley had another fine road display as they won 5-1 at Bicesterlona, Shaun Liptrot hitting a double. Jordan Reid, Aaron Layman & an own goal made up the Wheatley scorers, Michael woodward replied.

In a trio of super away performances, Yellow Eagles turned the form book upside down winning 6-3 at Iffley Harriers. A Lee Rendell brace helped crash land the Harriers, Eagles John O`Dwyer, Sam Saywood, Dave Phillips & Duncan Howell were all on target. Harrier Jack Barrett hit a hat trick but still ended up on the losing side.

Division 3B

Cross Keys Wallingford held on to a 1-0 lead at Abingdon Exiles, courtesy of a Duncan Stobie strike & move six points clear but they were pushed all the way by Exiles.

Punchbowl Pirates are making a late move winning 4-3 at rivals Brightwell FC in a cracking end to end game, which Brightwell led 3-0. Rich Willans hit a late winner from the penalty spot after the teams were locked at 3-3. Pirates other scorers were Wayne Harbert, Justin Price & an own goal. Brightwell were always in it thanks to an Andy Gibbons double & a strike from George Eleftheriou. .

Bowyer Arms surprisingly lost 3-1 at home to Abingdon Knights. Chris Stringer, Ed Morey & Jason McDonald all struck for the Knights, Shane Northcott hit the Bowyer consolation.

Berinsfield Rebels won for only the second time as they won 4-2 at JET. David Naylor, Richard Whipp, Liam Morris & Andie Sampson all scored to crash land their opponents, Nigel King & Neil Reynolds replied for JET.

White Horse Abingdon doubled their win column following a 5-1 home win over Hampstead Norrey`s, Pat Clark grabbing a brace. Nick Bowen & Andy Taylor hit their first goals of the season, James Taylor completed the Abingdon win in a fine performance, especially as they only had ten men. Lee Bartholomew hit the Norrey`s consolation.
